Skiing...Finally

Last year's ski season was probably my best season in memory. The snow was great, I felt good and I avoided major injury. After 7 months off of the snow, I found myself skiing last weekend. I had not forgotten how much I love the snow. The major differnce here of course, is that the type of skiing shown above invites major injury. I narrowly escaped this time, which of course means I will be back for more next weekend. I can't wait to get back on the bike, but I am more than a little torn about missing out on what looks to be a great ski season for 2006/2007. To answer the inevitable question: I am not in any of these pictures. Bill and Doug will be flying solo on the blog until I download the rest of the shots.

Dump Dig

Thank you to Mickey Zeppelin and Susan Wick for inviting Blake and I to the "Dump Dig." Yes, "Dump Dig." We spent all Saturday digging in the Leadville, CO dump. We found a lot of old bottles, cups, tea kettles, signs and ceramics. What an odd and completely satisfying thing to do. Though I really want to get back to riding, events like this make me realize how much I love Colorado.

Over-Exposure
In the process of preparing my portfolio I am sorting through all of my old artwork and photos. I had a box of what I assumed to be about 20 rolls of developed film. I based this estimate on the size of the box and the fact that I had simply stuffed everything in about 6 years ago. There is a theory that says that space efficiency and organization are positively related. I have disproved this theory.
Apparently "stuffing" is better than "stacking" or is at least roughly equal. After five hours of organization last night I found that I actually had around 100 rolls of film, most of which had been printed as well. After trying to match the negative with the prints I still had a huge pile of loose pictures. I found that about 250 pictures from this stack were pictures of cars. If anyone needs badly composed and under-exposed pictures of the original Viper GTS concept at the
Chicago Auto Show, let me know.
The personal lesson learned here is that while I may not be a great
photographer, I was always a prolific one.
